Overview:

Our standards are high, but crewing yacht deliveries with Salty is rewarding. We continually seek good people to join our team: masters, engineers and crew.

Yacht deliveries allow you to gain experience on new vessels, in new operating areas, with new people. The depth of experience you can gain is diverse, and no two deliveries are the same.

You’ll also accrue sea time. If we’re delivering a commercial vessel, you may be able to use this sea time towards a commercial Certificate of Competency.

Many of Salty’s crew work elsewhere, and fit deliveries into their schedule when they can.

What you’ll do:

Join us on delivery and help us to deliver a boat from the origin to the destination.

Experience:
  • Required experience varies between each delivery
  • Crew are selected to match each vessel and delivery passage
Requirements:
  • Hold the necessary qualifications
  • Have experience to suit the boat and passage
  • Provide your own PFD, harness and tether. PLB is recommended
  • Hold a passport with minimum 6 months validity for overseas travel
  • Have a flexible schedule
  • Be fit and healthy
  • Don’t get seasick
Location:

Your home port can be anywhere in Australia as many jobs are fly in, fly out (FIFO) within Australia and overseas.

Remuneration:
  • Freelance positions are both paid and volunteer
  • Paid positions receive a day rate DOE
  • Own ABN required; this is a freelance contractor position
What’s provided by Salty?
  • Paid crew: transfers to and from vessel, all costs whilst aboard are covered including food
  • Volunteer crew: all costs whilst aboard are covered including food; you are usually responsible for your transfer to and from vessel
Character:

The most important character traits that delivery crew can possess is a friendly attitude, a willingness to help and a desire to learn.
